Frontiers of Environmental Science & Engineering 2012, Volume 6, Issue 2,   Pages 246-254 doi: 10.1007/s11783-011-0381-8

Abstract: Eutrophication can shift lakes from a clear, macrophyte-dominated state to a turbid, algae-dominated state, and different habitat condition supports different fauna. Macrozoobenthos are good indicators of water environment, and studies on macrozoobenthic assemblage characteristics can help us to know which state a lake is in, thus provide the basis for its eutrophication control. In this study, a systematic investigation on macrozoobenthos was conducted in 17 Yangtze-isolated lakes to explore the macroecological laws of macrozoobenthic assemblages. Detrended correspondence analysis (DCA) revealed that variance of benthic assemblage structure occurred in two types of lakes. In macrophytic lakes, altogether 51?taxa of macrozoobenthos were identified. The average density and biomass of total macrozoobenthos were 2231?individuals·m and 1.69 g dry weight·m , respectively. Macrozoobenthic assemblage was characterized by dominance of scrapers (i.e. gastropods). In algal lakes, altogether 20 taxa of macrozoobenthos were identified. The average density and biomass of total macrozoobenthos were 2814 individuals·m and 1.38 g dry weight·m , respectively. Macrozoobenthic assemblage was characterized by dominance of collector-gatherers (i.e. oligochaetes). Wet biomass of submersed macrophytes ( ) and phytoplankton chlorophyll concentration ( ) were demonstrated as the key factor structuring macrozoobenthic assemblages in macrophytic and algal lakes, respectively.

A multi-sensor relation model for recognizing and localizing faults of machines based on network analysis

Frontiers of Mechanical Engineering 2023, Volume 18, Issue 2, doi: 10.1007/s11465-022-0736-9

Abstract: Recently, advanced sensing techniques ensure a large number of multivariate sensing data for intelligent fault diagnosis of machines. Given the advantage of obtaining accurate diagnosis results, multi-sensor fusion has long been studied in the fault diagnosis field. However, existing studies suffer from two weaknesses. First, the relations of multiple sensors are either neglected or calculated only to improve the diagnostic accuracy of fault types. Second, the localization for multi-source faults is seldom investigated, although locating the anomaly variable over multivariate sensing data for certain types of faults is desirable. This article attempts to overcome the above weaknesses by proposing a global method to recognize fault types and localize fault sources with the help of multi-sensor relations (MSRs). First, an MSR model is developed to learn MSRs automatically and further obtain fault recognition results. Second, centrality measures are employed to analyze the MSR graphs learned by the MSR model, and fault sources are therefore determined. The proposed method is demonstrated by experiments on an induction motor and a centrifugal pump. Results show the proposed method’s validity in diagnosing fault types and sources.

Frontiers of Medicine 2008, Volume 2, Issue 4,   Pages 348-351 doi: 10.1007/s11684-008-0066-2

Abstract: It has been found that lifestyle and diet are associated with the development of cancers. The mortality of breast cancer in Wuhan city is increasing, according to the statistics of recent years. This case control study was aimed to provide data for alimentary therapeutics for breast carcinomas. It included a case group ( = 196) and an age frequency-matched control group ( = 202). A validated food frequency questionnaire was used to obtain information on usual food consumption. The results indicate that intake of soy foods more than 5 times per week was associated with a decreased risk of breast cancer, especially in premenopausal women. The adjusted was 0.294 [95% CI was (0.158–0.546), = 0.000]. Our results indicate that alimentary therapeutics for breast cancer can be adjusted by status of menopause.

Research and Realization of IP Multicast Routing Protocol

Li Wei

Strategic Study of CAE 2002, Volume 4, Issue 1,   Pages 82-88

Abstract:

This paper first explains why IP multicasting must be used. Then it summaries the fundamentals of IP multicasting and multicast routing protocols. After that it specially discusses protoool independent multicast-sparse mode (PIM-SM), points out its defect and proposes a scheme to solve it. In this scheme each source registers and sends data packets toward multiple rendezvous points (RPs) but receivers only join to a single RP. If one of the RPs fails, receivers will join to one of the alternative RPs quickly. On implementation, the paper centers on the details of implementing PIM-SM. Finally it discusses the problems and prospect of IP multicasting.

Frontiers of Engineering Management 2021, Volume 8, Issue 2,   Pages 236-257 doi: 10.1007/s42524-019-0088-2

Abstract: This multiple case study of a contracting firm contributes to understanding the barriers that organizations face during the implementation of building information modeling (BIM) by providing insights into the impact of these barriers across different organizational levels (i.e., from top management to project teams) and by relating these barriers to different degrees of BIM maturity. First, we observe the dominance of barriers related to the motivation, competence, and time capacity of people across all levels of an organization. Second, the cluster of barriers at the middle-management level highlights the important role of this level in reducing these barriers. Third, only those cases with a low level of BIM maturity have struggled with lack of top management support, thereby highlighting the importance of such support in achieving BIM maturity growth. High BIM maturity situations are more prone to externally oriented barriers in attempting to further leverage the benefits of BIM. Our study provides insights on where to focus BIM implementation measures and how to enhance organizational BIM maturity.

The ITZ microstructure, thickness, porosity and its relation with compressive and flexural strength of

Frontiers of Structural and Civil Engineering 2022, Volume 16, Issue 2,   Pages 191-201 doi: 10.1007/s11709-021-0792-y

Abstract: A new insight into the interfacial transition zone (ITZ) in cement mortar specimens (CMSs) that is influenced by cement fineness is reported. The importance of cement fineness in ITZ characterizations such as morphology and thickness is elucidated by backscattered electron images and by consequences to the compressive (Fc) and flexural strength (Ff), and porosity at various water/cement ratios. The findings indicate that by increasing the cement fineness the calcium silicate hydrate formation in the ITZ is favored and that this can refine the pore structures and create a denser and more homogeneous microstructure. By increasing cement fineness by about 25% of, the ITZ thickness of CMSs was reduced by about 30% and Fc was increased by 7%–52% and Ff by 19%–40%. These findings illustrate that the influence of ITZ features on the mechanical strength of CMSs is mostly related to the cement fineness and ITZ microstructure.

Correlation between tension softening relation and crack extension resistance in concrete

Xiufang ZHANG , Shilang XU ,

Frontiers of Structural and Civil Engineering 2009, Volume 3, Issue 3,   Pages 323-329 doi: 10.1007/s11709-009-0041-2

Abstract: Changes of the material fracture energy consumption with crack propagation can be described by a crack extension resistance curve, one of the fundamental fracture criteria in crack mechanics. Recently, experimental observation of the fracture behavior in concrete was used to develop a new fracture criterion, the crack extension resistance curve, to analyze crack propagation during the entire concrete fracture process. The variation of the crack extension resistance is mainly associated with the energy consumption in the fracture process zone ahead of the stress-free crack tip. The crack extension resistance is then a function of the softening curve, which is a basic mechanical property in the fracture process zone. The relationship between the softening curve and the crack extension resistance curve is then analyzed based on results of three-point bending beams tests. The results indicate that the characteristic points of the crack extension resistance curve is closely related to the characteristic point on used tension softening curve.

Frontiers of Medicine 2016, Volume 10, Issue 1,   Pages 85-90 doi: 10.1007/s11684-016-0435-1

Abstract:

Leukocyte activation has been linked to atherogenesis, but there is little in vivo evidence for its role in the progression of atherosclerosis. We evaluated the predictive value for progression of coronary artery disease (CAD) of leukocyte activation markers in the coronary circulation. Monocyte and neutrophil CD11b, neutrophil CD66b expression and intracellular neutrophil myeloperoxidase (MPO) in the coronary arteries were determined by flow cytometry in patients undergoing coronary angiography. The primary outcome included fatal and nonfatal myocardial infarction or arterial vascular intervention due to unstable angina pectoris. In total 99 subjects who were included, 70 had CAD at inclusion (26 patients had single-vessel disease, 18 patients had two-vessel disease and 26 patients had three-vessel disease). The median follow-up duration was 2242 days (interquartile range: 2142–2358). During follow-up, 13 patients (13%) developed progression of CAD. Monocyte CD11b, neutrophil CD11b and CD66b expression and intracellular MPO measured in blood obtained from the coronary arteries were not associated with the progression of CAD. These data indicate that coronary monocyte CD11b, neutrophil CD11b and CD66b expression and intracellular MPO do not predict the risk of progression of CAD.

Frontiers of Information Technology & Electronic Engineering 2022, Volume 23, Issue 1,   Pages 145-157 doi: 10.1631/FITEE.2000578

Abstract: There are two famous function decomposition methods in math: the and the Fourier series. The Fourier series developed into the Fourier spectrum, which was applied to signal decomposition and analysis. However, because the function cannot be solved without a definite functional expression, it has rarely been used in . We developed a using our proposed , constructed a , and applied it to decomposition and analysis of models and systems. Specifically, knowledge of the intuitive link between muscle activity and finger movement is vital for the design of commercial that do not need user pre-training. However, this link has yet to be understood due to the complexity of the human hand. In this study, the was applied to analyze the muscle–finger system. One single muscle actuates multiple fingers, or multiple muscles actuate one single finger simultaneously. Thus, the research was focused on muscle synergy and muscle coupling for the hand. The main contributions are twofold: (1) The findings concerning the hand contribute to the design of ; (2) The makes the online model human-readable, which unifies online performance and offline results.
